Videos and QR Codes in the Library

YouTube
YouTube is a great way to connect with your students. They're always on watching videos of random cats and what not...so why fight it?...just go with the flow on this one. Create your own YouTube channel and get your kids connected to the library through your silly videos. You can make videos helpful for your students as well as create videos that will bring out the creative side of your students. Here are a few examples below:

Animoto
Animoto is a great way to make book trailers for your library! If you don't know what a book trailer is, it's basically a preview of a book in "movie style". I created one for you below by utilizing a QR code, which is another great way to get your kids intrigued about the library. The book trailer previews 'The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness'.
QR Code
A QR Code is basically another form of a barcode. Instead of using these to scan your groceries, you can use your phone to scan a QR Code to pull up any video, picture, audio, or yes...even a book trailer. Try it out! QR Codes would be a fantastic way to get multiple "book talks" into the hands of your kids, just by students using their phones. You can have a ton of different Codes set up on a poster board and the kids can scan and read book trailers until their hearts are content! Download a QR Code scanner on your phone, scan the code below, and check out the book trailer I created for 'The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness'. I used QRCodeMonkey to generate the QR Code. Enjoy!
Great job on your book trailer! That was such a difficult book for me to begin but so glad that I read it.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed The Knife of Never Letting Go, but I was so mad at the ending! What a cliff hanger...or maybe I'm just not a series reader. I also use QRcodeMonkey. From what I have found, it's the best one out there!
